An aromatic and crisply acidic grape variety, Riesling is growing in popularity. Traditionally grown in Germany, where it produces in some of the country’s best wines, it has a great capacity for ageing and covers a range of styles from citrussy and bone dry to late harvest dessert wines. Aromas include flowers, lemon, lime, tropical fruits and, with age, petrol and lanolin notes. There are some fantastic Rieslings (mainly dry) also made in Northern Italy, Australia and New Zealand. |
