 Old Potrero Straight Rye Whiskey is a whiskey produced from 100% rye malt mash, distilled in a traditional copper pot still and aged in new and used uncharred oak barrels. The aim is to re-create the original whiskey of America, which was first made from rye on the Atlantic coast. The Anchor Distilling Company was established in 1993 (other brands include Junipero Gin) and creates very small batches of traditionally distilled spirits. On the nose, Old Potrero has spiced citrus with some sweetening toffee. On the palate the toffee is evident and along with the rye and accompanying oil it really has a taste to chew on. It is constant on the finish with a slight bitter edge at the very end. |
