 Sacred Gin is hand-crafted by award winning boutique micro-distiller Ian Hart in the back room at his home in north London. Each botanical is distilled separately in glassware under vacuum at a very low temperature, avoiding the strong marmalade flavours so prevalent in most other gins distilled at higher temperatures. In addition to fragrant juniper, Sacred Gin possesses a creamy aromatic bouquet of fresh cut orange, lime and lemon combined with angelica, cardamom and enhanced by distilled frankincense (Boswellia Sacra) from which the name is derived. Ian selects and distils all Sacred Gin's botanicals personally and now his endeavours have been recognised - Sacred Gin was the outright winner of its Gin Masters 2009 category (an international blind-tasting competition) Desmond Payne, Master Distiller of Beefeater, commented on the product "after a soft, gentle start the palate is hit by a fantastic wham of aromatics...I really do think it is a very good product and I am delighted to see the seeds of a rebirth of authentic London gin." Production is limited to a few hundred bottles per month. |
