The name is inspired by the Death's Door Passageway between Washinton Island and Door County Peninsula in Wisconsin. This location must surely make it one of the hardest to find micro-distilleries in the US.
Made from local organic Hard Red Winter Wheat and triple distilled in a 90-gallon copper still using only three botanicals; juniper berries that grow wild on Washington Island with coriander and fennel sourced from within the state. Death’s Door Gin is big enough to stand up to classic or vintage cocktail treatment, but soft enough to be enjoyed on the rocks or as a dry martini.
Color – Clear.
Nose – Each botanical is distinctly present, from the initial hit of wild juniper to the coriander and fennel.
Taste – Crisp and bright; aromatic juniper at first, then sweet citrus, and earthy pepper notes at the end.
Finish – Long and smooth.
