Bols Dry Orange Curacao Liqueur is a rich, full citrus liqueur with a hint of rum and a perfect balance of fruity sweetness and a dry and firm finish. The main ingredient being the peel of the Curacao orange, this liqueur acquires a dark orange colour and an inimitable flavour through the addition of a carefully selected blend of bitters. Colour: The colour suggests a bright full-bodied liqueur, rich and full of flavour. Aroma: A full citrus flavour with a hint of light rum. Flavour: A fine citrus on the palate, balanced by fruity sweetness for a dry and firm finish. How to make a RHETT BUTLER Cocktail: Shake with ice and strain into a chilled glass: 15 mls BOLS Dry Orange curacao liqueur, 38 mls Southern Comfort, 15 mls Freshly squeezed lemon juice, 15 mls Freshly squeezed lime juice . A variation recipe is 2 shots of Southern Comfort and quarter shots each of lime, lemon and curacao. Like the Scarlett O'Hara, this drink is reputed to have been invented by the Southern Comfort company as the first-ever drinks tie-in with a major movie, the movie being of course " Gone with the Wind". It's a very drinkable Southern Comfort sour, sweetened with Dry Orange curacao, which confusingly enough is sweeter than Triple Sec (Dry Orange curacao is closer to what curacaos used to taste like: Triple Sec represents the modern taste for dryness).
