Bols Creme de Bananes is a clear yellow liqueur with the flavour of sun-ripened bananas, enhanced with a touch of soft vanilla and a hint of almond. Extracts of various carefully selected herbs and spices give this well-balanced liqueur its special taste. Colour: Bright, clear, yellowish.
Aroma: A strong bouquet of ripe bananas. Flavour: Sweet and identical to the 'nose' of ripe bananas. How to make a RUM RUNNER: Blend ingredients with crushed ice: 22 mls Blackberry (Mure) liqueur,
22 mls BOLS Crème de Bananes liqueur, 30 mls Grenadine syrup, Top with Sailor Jerry rum, 22 mls Black Heart rum, 30 mls Freshly squeezed lemon juice, 15 mls Sugar syrup (2 parts sugar:1 part water) Blend dark rum, blackberry and banana liqueurs with lemon juice, sugar syrup, grenadine and crushed ice, pour into the glass and float half a shot of gold rum. Add Sauza tequila and juggle the proportions a bit and you have a Mexican Runner.
For such a well-known drink, there is a dearth of information about the Rum Runner: hardly any respected cocktail book mentions it in any detail, and drinks writer Gary Regan confesses he never made one until 2000. It's a great tasting frozen drink with pleasantly sour overtones of blackberry .
