 The Coeur de Lion estate is located in the heart of the Auge region (Pays d'Auge). Christian Drouin senior established the first distillery at Gonneville-sur-Honfleur. However due to the success of Coeur de Lion Calvados, more space was required, so Christian Drouin junior transferred the facilities to a former stud farm at Courdray-Rabut. The 1939 (bottled in 1986)vintage is especially rare as there are no longer any Calvados distilled before 1940 left in cask. It is single distilled and aged in old casks. It is clear and limpid with a powerful bouquet of summer fruit. It is fresh and elegant with a smooth, good finish. |
