The deep red of Cherry Marnier is natural and comes only from the fruit. It's an aromatic liqueur with a dominant note of griotte, bitter almond which comes from the pips, as well as hints of blackcurrant and raspberry. Cherry Marnier has always been produced to the original recipe and only the "Griotte" cherry, famous for its exceptional aroma and quality of its pulp, is used. Once they are brought to Neauphle-le-Château, the cherries are crushed and left to macerate in quality eaux-de-vie. The resulting alcoholic juice is separated from the pulp and crushed pips, which are distilled to give an aromatic "marc". The Cherry Marnier liqueur is made when the macerated cherries, the "marc" and sugar syrup are blended together. After several months of lying in vats which allows the product to find its balance and acquire its roundness, the liqueur is filtered and bottled. This is becoming a popular cocktail ingredient. Directions: Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well, strain into a highball glass, and serve.
