Adnams Copper House First Rate Gin

Adnams Copper House First Rate GIn is a truely unique gin, it is distilled from three locally-grown grains: barley, wheat and oats. Adnams Masterbrewer, Fergus Fitzgerald, makes a beer 'wash' from these grains which is fermented to around 6% abv without the addition of hops. Then head distiller, John McCarthy, takes this beer and puts it through a 'beer stripping' column which removes all the alcohols to create a 'low wine' (around 80 - 85% abv). The 'low wines' are subsequently distilled in our hand-made copper pot still and purified further in rectification columns to create a clean, pure spirit. Only the very purest portion of the spirit is drawn off; the finest cut. The spirit is then returned to the copper pot still to be redistilled and infused with thirteen carefully chosen botanicals. Adnams is the only brewery to make beer and distill spirits.
